Foals '09

I have covered 9 mares for 2009, some of whom have been scanned in foal, some of whom haven't (!) and most of them have only been covered once so who knows how many will have held. But potentially I am expecting five welsh cob foals, three welsh mountain pony foals and one coloured traditional gypsy cob foal. I have been priviliged to use some of the best stallions in the country, and possibly the world, this year and I must say a huge thank you to all the stallion owners for letting me use their lovely boys. Stallions used this year include: Royal Welsh and Prince of Wales Cup Winner Danaway Flash Jack, Royal Welsh winner and Prince of Wales Cup Winner Gwynfaes Cullhwch, Royal Welsh winner and multiple Supreme Champion Danaway Tango, Supreme Champion and sire of countless Royal Welsh winners Trevallion Valentino, Royal Welsh harness winner Teifi Frankie Flanagan, high flying sales stallion Friars Superman, Lapstone Paragon (son of International Champion Springbourne Boy Blue) and graded coloured show stallion Tuckers Traveller's Gift. So a huge and heartfelt thank you to the stallion owners. Please click on the photos of each mare to see more information and pedigrees of the expected foal. Danaway Cherimarie x Danaway Flash Jack
(Section D)

One of my favourite mares Danaway Cherimarie has been covered by Danaway Flash Jack - this hugely successful cross has already proved to be a winning combination producing my stunning foundation mare Danaway Fantasy, the super stallion Danaway Flashback (in Germany), Taraco Fiasco (retained) and Taraco Fernando (retained). Cherimarie has also produced the stunning fillies Danaway Riviera (in Ireland) and Taraco Fiorenza (sold to Holland) - I am hoping for another beautiful filly to retain!
Scanned in foal - due May 2009

Danaway Fantasy x Danaway Tango
(Section D)

As many people know, this cross has been 8 years in the planning with my foundation mare Fantasy (Danaway Cherimarie cross Danaway Flash Jack) being covered by my favourite stallion Danaway Tango (by Tireinon Triple Crown). Fantasy's first foal for me, Taraco Fireblade, a stunning chestnut colt, has been retained as a future stud stallion. A huge thank you to Matt and Jose for letting me use Tango this year. It is an absolute dream come true and I cannot wait for her to foal next year!
Scanned in foal - due May 2009

Paith Magical Rockset x Danaway Desert Storm
(Section D)

This gorgeous smokey cream mare has been covered by the lovely young palomino stallion Danaway Desert Storm (Danaway Flash Jack out Costa Cloey by Trevallion Valentino). Storm is unshown due to an injury as a youngster but is already proving himself with some lovely foals on the ground in 2008. This foal could be palomino, buckskin, dilute black, cremello, perlino or smokey cream so from a colour point of view this is quite an exciting crossing.
Scanned in foal - due April 2009

Terackie Golden Beauty x Trevallion Valentino
(Section D)

Having had three consecutive colts for me I have everything crossed for a beautiful filly in 2009 (ha ha). Beauty has been covered by the Supreme Champion stallion and top stock getter Trevallion Valentino so this foal will be a half sibling to some of the best welsh cobs on the show circuit such as Royal Welsh winner Drogeda Stormy Tempest. Beauty is by Royal Welsh winner Nebo Thomas and out of a mare by Thorneside The Equaliser and her lovely 2008 colt foal has been sold to Czech Republic.
Not scanned yet - foal due April 2009

Danaway Ribbon x Gwynfaes Cullhwch (Section D)

Having had a couple of years where she hasnt held to coverings I have everything crossed that she has held to this lovely Royal Welsh winning stallion. This young mare has only had one foal for me so far (Taraco Diablo by Trevallion Valentino) and I am hoping for a beautiful filly to retain so watch this space!
Not scanned yet - due June 2009)

Heiland Esmerelda x Tuckers Travellers Gift
(traditional gypsy cob)

This beautiful coloured mare, British Coloured Champion Foal first and only time shown in 2005, has been covered by the homozygous traditional stallion 'Buddy' for a 2009 coloured cob foal. Buddy is a graded prizewinning stallion both in hand and under saddle and I have crossed my fingers and toes for a filly in 2009.
Not scanned yet - due June 2009

Vervale Rara x Lapstone Paragon (Section A)

I am thrilled to say that this lovely striking mare has been covered again by the Springbourne Boy Blue son Lapstone Paragon. This foal will be a full sibling to the 2008 filly Taraco Rosetta (retained) and half sibling to RASE winner Taraco Renegade and the prize winning fillies Taraco Razzmatazz and Taraco Rioja.
Not scanned - due April 2009

Taraco Louisiana x Teifi Frankie Flanagan
(Section A)

I am hugely excited about this wonderful cross - Taraco Louisiana is the first homebred filly to be covered added to which Lulu was an orphan after I tragically lost her mum at stud in 2005 so it is very special foal in the making. As with all my mares a great deal of thought went into the choice of stallion and I was thrilled when George and Clare (Dycott Stud) agreed to accept Lulu to their lovely young stallion Teifi Frankie Flanagan. This striking roan stallion (already a RWAS winner in harness) is a great moving section A.
Scanned in foal - due June 2009

Blanche Glisten x Friars Superman
(section A)

Yet another foal I am very excited about (!!) having searched high and low for a mare of this type and breeding for several years she will be imported Autumn 2008 from Holland having been scanned in foal to the lovely stallion Friars Superman. Glisten is by Breachwood Marwyn and out of the lovely mare Springbourne Gemma making her a half-sister to Vervale Stud's Blanche Glimmer.
Scanned in foal - due May 2009

Last year's Foals

I was really lucky to have seven beautiful foals in 2008 - the lovely coloured fillies Taraco Karina and Taraco Echo; the beautiful welsh cobs Taraco Fiorenza (sold to Holland), Taraco Bendigo (sold to Czech Republic), Taraco Fireblade (retained) and the mountain pony foals Taraco Camaro and Taraco Rosetta (retained). Click here to see details of the 2008 foals.

Other foals

Established in 1998 I am proud to say that I have bred some wonderful ponies and cobs - despite only being a small stud I have bred countless prizewinners including Royal of England winners Taraco Renegade and Taraco Fiasco - please click on the photo to see information on other foals I have bred.
