Rara
- from rara, fem. of rarus
"rare"; also a very short gathered skirt, originally worn by
cheerleaders; epitomises energy, excitement.
This strikingly marked chestnut sabino mare is impeccably bred being by the Supreme Champion Stallion
Vervale Gangster (by Springbourne Caraway and out of Blanche Glimmer) and
out of the fantastic champion show mare Neaudd Parc Welsh Lady. Rara is a true welsh mountain
pony - deep-bodied, extravagant mover, beautiful head, and heaps of
spirit. She epitomises the type of welsh mountain pony I love and I cannot thank Barry enough for giving me the
opportunity to have a mare of this calibre and for trusting me with such a
wonderful mare. Rara's sire, Vervale Gangster is full brother to the Supreme Champion's and Royal Welsh winning stallions Vervale
Gabbana and Vervale Galileo and Gangster himself was a supreme champion before being sold abroad as a four year old.
The Vervale ponies little little introduction - sadly Barry lost Rara's mum after just one foal and the stud is best known
for the fantastic offspring Blanche Glimmer has produced to Springbourne Caraway
(
Vervale Gabbana
and Vervale Galileo the most well known).
In 2009 Vervale Gabbana (already a multiple supreme champion and medal winner) swept the board at the
2009 Royal Welsh winning the senior stallion class, male championship and finally the Section A overall championship.
This dynasty of ponies bred at the Vervale Stud have all been exceptionally successful at the highest level and
I am priviliged to have a foundation mare with such a fantastic pedigree.
By
breeding Vervale Rara back to Vervale Grenade (out of Blanche Glimmer) I
have had the first ever Vervale x Vervale foals, which combines two crosses of the superb mare Blanche Glimmer.
These foals haven't disappointed and include the multiple winning
colt
Taraco
Renegade
(sold to Sweden and then Scotland)
who won the Royal of England 2005, his delightful prizewinning full sisters Taraco
Razzmatazz and Taraco
Rioja (both prizewinners at county/ medal level).
Her latest foals (line bred to Springbourne Boy Blue and Penual Mark) by the lovely old stallion Lapstone Paragon have been equally
exceptional and include the retained 2008 filly Taraco
Rosetta and her 2009 colt
Taraco
Rockstar both of whom I am sure will follow in the family tradition and excel
in the show ring at the highest level. With both Rosetta and Razzmatazz retained at the stud I am sure that the R-line Rara has founded will
continue to ensure I breed quality section A foals that epitomise the true welsh mountain pony for a long time to come.
