Sally-
Sally is a variant of the girl's name Sarah which in turn is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is
“princess”. Apparently after a princess who was described as being exceptionally beautiful even
into her older years.

stunning liver
chestnut mare is here courtesy of Ann and Huw Jenkins Nantgwinau Stud
The Nantgwinau Welsh Cob Stud nr Lampeter in Ceredigion was established in 1987 and is based firmly on the
bloodlines of the Rhandir, Geler and Derwen Studs. They have exported stock to Holland and Europe and have
some stunning old fashioned broodmares, including Pendam Sally. When they decided to concentrate of breeding
from Ffarwel Haf and her two daughters, Sally was destined for retirement. I was looking for a couple of really
old fashioned mares as outcrosses for my Trevallion bred colts but was finding them hard to find. Eventually,
I decided to ask whether Huw and Ann would consider letting her come out of retirement and fortunately for me,
they were more than happy to lease her to me for breeding and now, at the grand old age of 21, she is due to
be covered by Danaway Desert Storm and will hopefully prove to be fertile as ever (fingers crossed!).
She is by Farian Prince and out of Hwylog Geneira and includes some of the real old greats in her pedigree
such as Cahn Dafydd, Mathrafal, Brenin Gwalia and Tyhen Comet. Not surprisingly with a pedigree like hers,
this mare is stunning and the real old-fashioned type through and through. Deep-bodied, bone and feather to
die for and a real ‘leg-at-each-corner’ stamp I have everything crossed that she takes and founds an S-line
of stunning foals for me at Taraco. The photo above is taken last Summer when she was 20 years old – courtesy
of Huw and Ann Jenkins.
